Alice C. Keefe

I am an associate attorney at BC Davenport where I focus on litigation involving the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program. My path to law began in a different field altogether –journalism. Before stepping into the legal world, I spent several years as a reporter and photojournalist, covering stories across Chicago, Minnesota, and Maine. That work taught me how to ask the right questions, dig deep into complicated issues, and tell the stories that matter – skills I now bring to my legal practice.

The work we do in the LIHTC space is personal to me. Early in my journalism career, I lived in an income-restricted apartment building in Rochester, Minnesota. I saw firsthand the value of affordable housing, not just as a resource, but as a foundation for opportunity. I carry that experience with me in every case, and I am proud to represent clients who are committed to building stronger, more equitable communities.

I grew up in the Twin Cities and earned my bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Loyola University Chicago in 2017. I went on to earn an Emmy nomination for my reporting, then made the transition to law, graduating from the University of Maine School of Law in 2023. During law school, I worked at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, the Office of the Federal Defender, the Maine Attorney General’s Office, and the Federal Capital Habeas Project in Maryland. I also externed for Chief Judge Jon Levy of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine. After graduation, I worked as a law clerk for Judge Peter M. Reyes, Jr. on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, cooking, reading, and traveling with my husband.
